NEW Advanced Diploma for the Corporate Finance (CF) qualification

10/05/07

With an increase in the number of people looking to gain professional level finance qualifications or consolidate qualifications they currently hold, BPP Professional Education is working in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICEAW) to deliver training towards the Advanced Diploma stage of the Corporate Finance (CF) Qualification.

The CF Qualification, which is relevant to corporate finance practitioners working in accountancy firms, investment banks and private equity firms, is establishing a global footprint. This is the first time there will be an examination on offer in the UK for the final stage and therefore the first time that the CF designation will be available to UK professionals.

David Bowden, managing director of BPP Financial Services, says; "The CF Qualification has been developed as the leading practical qualification for professionals in corporate finance and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the ICAEW's Corporate Finance Faculty to deliver training. The Advanced Diploma builds on the first two stages of the CF Qualification, focusing more on real-life practical application and experience, and also offers opportunities for corporate financiers from different organisations to network, learning and picking up valuable working practices from their peers.

"As a firmly established CF Qualification training provider, BPP has trained the first 150 UK delegates through the diploma level of the qualification and is well placed to offer training for the Advanced Diploma."

"The CF Qualification is set to become the benchmark of professional credentials within the corporate finance community and a number of leading firms have already demonstrated their commitment by contributing strongly to its development and sponsoring employees through the first two stages. With this in mind we would encourage anyone who wishes to get ahead in their financial career to seriously consider the CF Qualification."

Rupert Faure Walker, Managing Director of HSBC Investment Banking, adds; "I do believe international clients generally regard the corporate finance profession in the UK as having the highest standards of integrity. We applaud this initiative and qualification which should enhance even further this excellent reputation."

The CF Qualification Advanced Diploma requires up to 300 hours of study time over six months, with approximately six days of tuition. Most of the material is self-study, but the group sessions provide the opportunity to share ideas and work together to tackle practical problems and develop relevant solutions. Senior industry practitioners who are presenting on this course include Chris Ward, Global Head of Corporate Finance at Deloitte.

The initial stages of the qualification programme, developed jointly by the ICAEW and the Securities & Investment Institute (SII), are:

  • the Certificate in Corporate Finance – a core competency, multiple choice exam which forms part of the SII Certificates suite of qualifications
  • the Diploma in Corporate Finance – a four hour written examination testing candidates’ analytical skills and financial knowledge
